SDC was contracted by GWWO, a Baltimore-based architect, to assist them in the phased construction of improvements to the existing 14,000 sf York County Parks at Nixon Park Nature Center.

SDC provided feasibility research, schematic planning, surveying, site design, and regulatory approvals for a 1,000 sf building addition to house new classroom space, outdoor accessed restrooms, a new front entrance patio, and accessibility routes surrounding the improved Nature Center.

SDC also completed a HEC-RAS analysis to determine the existing 100-year floodway and floodplain. SDC further utilized the HEC-RAS analysis to model the proposed improvements and the potential affect on the floodplain elevations. Mapping both pre– and post– development conditions ensured the improvements would cause no impact on the water surface elevation during the 100-year event, protecting the Nature Center’s investments.
