As a result of a structure fire which destroyed a large, period home in Lititz, PA, the property owner sought to reconstruct the former mansion with the grandeur it deserved. The owners approached SDC with a vision to design a “Manor House” on the 30 + acre parcel to provide a retreat with views to the Cocalico Creek and its adjoining agricultural properties.

As such, our team undertook a schematic and masterplanning process with the owner to craft a vision for the unique property. We began by assessing the Site’s physical features and facilities in an effort to understand the unique site characteristics which influenced the design. Through a design charrette process, our team teased out several concept plans which we presented to the owners to develop a program for the residential campus.

In respect to the existing site features, the final plan calls for the sweeping driveway curving through existing topography and outcroppings which brings visitors to a large vehicular courtyard, accompanying the 14,000 S.F. residence. The design preserves an existing natural stone wall and extends its form to define key spaces for pedestrian gathering. To the south, a variety of English gardens are planned to provide spaces for quiet reflection.
